it took a city 🤍 a chicago love story

college sweethearts kaity and robbie morris were meant to say i do in guadalajara, mexico. but when violence erupted in the city just days before their wedding, they were faced with an unimaginable decision. cancel their destination celebration or risk the safety of their loved ones.

with deep intention to keep their original date, they chose to bring their wedding home to Chicago.

in just four days.

after sharing their situation publicly, the chicago events industry did what it does best. it showed up. vendors across the city rallied together, donating time, talent, resources, and heart to reimagine their wedding from the ground up.

as robbie shared on Today, “they say ‘it takes a village,’ but it really took a city for us…we’re so proud to be chicagoans and to have the community wrap their arms around us.”

we felt that.

for their celebration at The Alston, we were honored to provide the seating chart and vintage cake stands for the dessert table. the words printed at the top of the chart read, “every seat has a story.”

and this one certainly did.

there was something especially meaningful about watching this day come together, not just beautifully styled, but built on generosity and care. it was a reminder of why we love this city, and why community is at the heart of everything we do.
